Soundtrack Throwback – Iron Eagle (1986)

thYou know, in the 80’s, there was this big demand for Middle Eastern and/or fighter jet movies.  I mean, there’s Top Gun and then there’s Iron Eagle.  This wonderful little gem set off a series of sequels that not only must I admit I watched but also slightly enjoyed.  But this is the original with an originally amazing 80’s soundtrack!  I know there aren’t a whole lot of people who have seen this movie seeing as it wasn’t exactly brilliantly acted or made but it’s a piece of 80’s nostalgia that shouldn’t be overlooked.

So the plot is not hard to follow: genius ace military kid’s dad is captured by Poirot…I mean evil Middle Eastern dictator and kid stages coop to get him out before he hangs.  Seriously…hang.  During the movie you hear some great 80’s hit from Twisted Sister and some from the 70’s hits as well.  However, the soundtrack is incredible for lovers of 80’s music who will totally dig it!

  1. “One Vision” by Queen
  2. “Iron Eagle (Never Say Die)” by King Kobra
  3. “These Are the Good Times” by Eric Martin
  4. “Maniac House” by Katrina and the Waves
  5. “Intense” by George Clinton
  6. “Hide in the Rainbow” by Dio
  7. “It’s Too Late” by Helix
  8. “Road of the Gypsy” by Adrenalin
  9. “Love Can Make You Cry” by Urgent
  10. “This Raging Fire” by Jon Butcher Axis

Not of the soundtrack but used in the movie:

  1. “Old Enough to Rock and Roll” by Rainey Haynes
  2. “Gimme Some Lovin’ by The Spencer Davis Group
  3. “Eyes of the World” by Eric Martin
  4. “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister
  5. “Proud Mary” by Ike & Tina Turner
